On September 23rd, the University of Utah (UU) Confucius Institute partnered with local Chinese community organizations to host a celebration of both the Mid-Autumn Festival and Chinese National Day at the UU Student Union.
On September 25th, the Confucius Institute at the University of Utah hosted Professor Xiaolu Wang’s lecture entitled “Trans-border and In-between: Americans in Late 19th and Early 20th Century China.” Over 20 students and teachers attended the event.
On September 15, 2017, the University of Utah (UU) hosted Dr. Lothar von Falkenhausen’s lecture “The Emperor’s First Terracotta Army.” Falkenhausen is a professor of Chinese art and archaeology at University of California Los Angeles (UCLA)
On August 4th, the University of Utah’s Confucius Institute and Youth Education Center concluded their 2017 Chinese Immersion summer camp. The camp was held at five campuses in the Salt Lake area, including the University of Utah, University of Utah Sandy Campus, Cascade Elementary, Foothill Elementary, and North Davis Junior High.
The Confucius Institute at the University of Utah together with the College of Humanities hosted a “Contemporary China” seminar attended by a total of 28 local Chinese teachers.
May 29th through June 9th: A group of 24 students, one teacher and four parent volunteers from Lehi High School, one of the Confucius Classrooms under the Confucius Institute at the University of Utah, travelled to Beijing and Chengdu to participate in Chinese Bridge Summer Camp, sponsored by the Confucius Institute Headquarters, to promote the study of Mandarin.
